You don't need to be Catholic. You don't need to do anything. Just find a chapel near you and sit in the quiet for as long as you need.
Catholics believe Jesus is truly and physically present in the Eucharist — kept in a sacred cabinet called a tabernacle (marked by a lit red candle) or displayed in a sunburst-shaped monstrance. When the Eucharist is displayed for prayer, it's called Eucharistic Adoration.
For Catholics, these chapels are something extraordinary: a place to sit face-to-face with God Himself.
For anyone, regardless of faith, they offer something increasingly rare — genuine silence, and the possibility that the silence isn't empty. Come to pray, come to think, or simply sit. You're welcome either way.

Not every parish is ready to welcome an influx of visitors — and that's okay.
Joining Step Into Silence requires an accessible chapel, clear signage from the street to the seat, and someone ready to follow up with a first-time visitor who wants to know more.
The last thing we want is for someone finally ready to take a courageous step in faith to find a locked door.
If your parish isn't listed yet and you'd like to change that, talk to your pastor — or reach out to us directly and we'll help start the conversation.
